Click the Unzip button and the Self-Extractor will place the file in the appropriate folder

If you are using a network, you need to replace the CMS.mde file on ALL OF THE WORKSTATIONS.  If you are in a CITRIX or Terminal Server environment, type in the destination folder for the cms.mde file. If you run CMS on a stand-alone computer, the self-extracting program will update the file automatically.

After you download the files, you will need to install them, and run the database comparison routine that is in the security module, Dataset Administration. This will bring your dataset in line with the updates to the system.

YOU WILL NEED FULL NETWORK ACCESS TO THE FILE TO DO THIS PROCESS

Table Analysis Tool

The table analysis tool is where the update is done.

BEFORE STARTING THIS PROCESS

1)                  Backup your production Data. Make sure no is working in CMS by checking the folder where your Guidata is. There should only be one Guidata file. If there is a Guidata.lbd file, the size will be approx. 1KB, someone is still using CMS.

2)                  When everyone is out of CMS make a copy of GUIData (right click and copy it) paste it in the same place or anywhere else you wish to store it.

3)                  Test your copy of GUIData by relinking and verifying that it is working – maybe even open tables thru access to check for corrupted tables.

4)                  For extra safety, thru Microsoft Access in Tools, Database Utilities you might want Repair and Compact the GUIData.

To use the Table Analysis Tool you must have the following components:

1.      A Standards database – This is downloadable from the JABR web site and contains the current tables and fields in the latest revision of the CMSÓ system.

2.      Production Dataset – The default name for the production dataset is GUIData.mdb. This is the dataset that contains all the information stored as a result of input from the CMSÓ system. During the installation process the file was put somewhere on your system.

You can locate the file in the bottom left corner of the “About” screen in the CMSÓ system.

To use the Analysis Tool, first click the “Browse” button on the top line, “Compare from Table”… of the tool and locate the standard.mdb file.

Note: Use the most recent Standard File that has been downloaded from the Web. This file will have a date in the name. (Example: Standard7-14-04.mdb)

When you do, either double click the file or click the “Open” button and the location will be filled in.

Next find the production data (GUIData.mdb or if the name has been changed, that file) by clicking the “Browse” button, “Compare to Table”….

A “Compare” Button will appear after this step is completed. Click it and when the tables are updated you will be notified.

The system will also report the number of tables that have been looked at and updated.

NOTE: If you have created queries in the production data set the update process may not work. If you create queries with names that are similar to tables in the system the process will not work.

The safest place to create queries is in a different location.

Re-link the tables using the Tools, Refresh option in the menu.
